Ideas For Finding Your Niche

Ideas For Finding Your Niche

Finding a niche that is profitable and that you can resonate with is difficult for most marketers. Here's 4 ideas that you could try.

1. What you love

This is a good idea because you will be passionate about it and this will come out in your content and blogs etc. This will be picked up on by your readers and you will pass your enthusiasm on to them. You are also less likely to become bored with it. I have listed some possible examples below.

  • Hobbies
  • Interests
  • Sports
  • Travel
  • Lifestyle
  • Fitness

2. What you know

This could be something that you are an authority on. A colleague of mine has built a very successful business on a niche of "New Moms". She gave parenting tips and blogged about her experiences and people loved her and read everything she posted. It was not a surprise afterwards when people began to buy everything she recommended.

3. What you are an expert in

This could be something around your particular profession as long as you are still interested in it. For example if you are a personal trainer you could find a niche of people who are into:

  • Losing weight
  • Body building
  • Keeping fit
  • Exercise equipment

A friend of mine has a property business and she now coaches others to become property developers. She can do this via Skype so can be pretty much anywhere in the world. A niche of like-minded people is always good to work with.

4. What you would like to be doing

This is a fun one because it is where you get to dream and dream big! What is it you would like to do? For argument sake let's say you would love to travel to Kenya and do a safari. You know that the likelihood of this is remote as you are stuck in a job that pays very little but you are determined to try.

You create a website all about Kenya. You find pictures and videos to put on it to show people how beautiful it is. You then research all you can about the country and write a blog about it. You invite others to post information on your site too - and maybe earn a little in advertising revenue. You could also maybe include affiliate links to excursion companies and earn money through them too.

You begin to build a reputation for information about Kenya and your site becomes more and more popular so that more people ask if they can advertise on it and you earn more as a result. Soon you have enough money saved to go. You don't have to pay for it as a personal expense though. It is now a business expense as you are going to do further research, take pictures and speak to local people.

Soon organisations are approaching you to endorse their hotels, taxi firms, food outlets etc... See how this works?

So don't hold back. Dream big and ignore the nay sayers. Only you can prevent yourself from succeeding.

I am a member of an organisation that trains and develops internet marketers. Finding a niche is covered in great detail along with many other useful tools and techniques. The training is excellent and you have a whole community of people to call on for help.
